Terms of Service

ZapTasks Inc. ("ZapTasks", "we", "us") operates a Canadian marketplace connecting homeowners with independent helpers.

1. Acceptance

By using ZapTasks, you agree to these terms, our Privacy Policy, and any supplemental policies posted on the platform. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Marketplace role & Brokerage

ZapTasks acts solely as a broker facilitating connections between homeowners and independent service providers. We do not perform, endorse, supervise, or guarantee any work. Providers are independent contractors responsible for their own work, tools, insurance, and compliance with local regulations.

3. Fees & Currency

All transactions are in Canadian Dollars (CAD). ZapTasks collects a 10% platform fee on completed jobs (8% for large licensed trades) from the total transaction. Fees are deducted automatically from payouts.

4. Payment Milestones

Payment schedules depend on job size: under $100 is paid 100% upfront to secure the booking. Jobs $100–$500 use a 50% deposit with the balance on completion. Projects over $500 rely on 30%/30%/40% milestones. ZapTasks may pause payouts during disputes until resolution.

5. Liability Disclaimer

ZapTasks is not liable for any work performed, nor for any property damage, personal injury, or losses arising from tasks booked through the platform. Users engage providers at their own risk. Our aggregate liability is limited to the platform fees paid to us in the preceding 12 months.

Privacy policy

We collect personal information needed to operate the marketplace, process payments, and deliver support.

1. Data collection

We collect account information, booking details, communications, and payment identifiers. Payment and payout details are processed and stored by Stripe.

2. Usage

Data is used for matching, messaging, analytics, marketing (with consent), and compliance reporting. We retain data only as long as necessary.

3. Sharing

We share relevant information with helpers/homeowners involved in a booking, payment processors, analytics tools, and law enforcement if required.

4. Security

We use HTTPS, role-based access, audit logging, and Stripe Connect to protect sensitive data. Notify us immediately at privacy@zaptasks.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

Dispute resolution

  1. Contact support within 24 hours of the issue. We pause any remaining payouts.
  2. Submit photos, chat transcripts, and receipts. Providers may propose a fix or refund.
  3. ZapTasks mediates within 48 hours. Possible outcomes include partial refund, rework, or payout release.
